Obituary for IRENE "NANA" KEKAHALOA STONE

Irene “Nana” Kekahaloa Stone, 82, of Maunawili, Oʻahu, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning of December 31, 2017. She was born and raised in Honolulu and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James “Jimmy” M.K. Stone, Sr., brother Ronald Obrey and sisters Alice McNamara and Rita Roberts. The greater part of Irene’s life was spent nurturing and caring for her family, and opening her home and heart to extended family members, family friends and neighbors. Irene and her late husband Jimmy volunteered for many years at the Castle Medical Center helping to bring smiles to both patients and staff. Irene is survived by her brothers Stephen (Ronette) and Stanley (Peggy); sons James, Jr. (Benedyne) and Jay (JoAnn); daughters Irene (Mark), Jayla (Nelson), Jayna and Jaynie; grandchildren Pomai, James III, Kauʻi (Michael), Daniel (Qovona), Kathryn, Jessica, Ikaika (Kanoho), Nolan, Amber (Sean), Blaine, Rachel and Emily; great grandchildren Avery, ʻIminoelo, Kealaula, Kaʻimimaluhia, Kyler, Rylee and Mykah. Private burial will take place at the Hawaiʻi State Veterans Cemetery Kāneʻohe. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Castle Medical Center via Adventist Health Castle.
